Photography ClassesCOURSES: Introduction to Digital Photography | Beyond Beginning Photography I Robert Chiller, Instructor
*Introduction to Digital Photography Get to know your camera! Whether you have a new SLR or point and shoot digital camera this class will let you get the most of it. In this class you will learn to use your cameras functions and learn about different file types, and how to save images. We will also discuss what makes a good image. Requirements: Any kind of camera (point and shoot or SLR digital). *Free with paid tuition to any 8-week class! Beyond Beginning Photography I In this class a digital SLR or a 35mm film SLR is required. We will learn about exposure and development, aperture and shutter speed, ISO’s, depth of field, advanced camera functions, lens choices, shooting RAW vs. JPEG. We will talk about lighting, fill flash and how to better control your camera flash. Composition will be stressed and at least 1 hour of each class will be devoted to critique. There will be an opportunity of going on a field trip in lieu of one night class. Requirements: Some knowledge of photography, SLR type of camera that can be set to manual operation with a detachable flash. The ability to shoot 75-100 digital images or 2 rolls of film per week and present at least 4 8x10 prints and contact sheets each week, and produce 6 finished images for the last class. Beyond Beginning Photography II In this class a digital SLR or a 35mm film SLR is required. We will have an in-depth discussion about exposure and development, aperture and shutter speed, ISO’s, depth of field, advanced camera functions, lens choices, and the advantages of shooting RAW vs. JPEG. We will talk about lighting, fill flash and how to better control your camera flash and off-camera flash. We will spend a class working with studio lighting and shooting models, and a class to shoot models with our small flash units in both studio and environmental settings. Composition will be stressed and at least 1¼ hours of each class will be devoted to critique. There will be an opportunity of going on a field trip in lieu of one of night class. We will spend one class on printing and color management, and another on photo software and file management. Requirements: A good knowledge of photography, SLR type of camera that can be set to manual operation with a detachable flash and a tripod. The ability to shoot 100 digital images or 2 rolls of film per week and present at least 4 8x10 prints and contact sheets each week, and produce 10 finished images for the last class. Visual Perception Visual perception is an 8-week course designed to enhance your knowledge of the visual element of photography, and to develop your ideas about picture making as well as explore other photographers. We will spend our time identifying visual aspects of images, and creating our own images and projects that form a cohesive body of work. You will rely on the technical knowledge that you have to solve problems you encounter along the way. Requirements: Knowledge of intermediate photography and an SLR, DSLR, or advanced point-and-shoot. The ability to shoot 100 images a week and to produce 10 final matted prints to form a finished body of work Photography Critiquing Class
$30 per wk Class will run on a night to be announced from 6:30-9:00. This class will consist of critiquing images that you already have, or those that are assigned, so that you may better improve your work. You must sign up for two sessions at a time, they can be used as needed. Private Lessons One hour tutoring sessions on improving your images, camera functions, printing, editing, lighting, Photoshop or any other photography related topic. |
